Since 1694, Benanti is synonymous with quality and represents a profound respect for Etna and the wine in produces. Grapes grown on the slope from north to southwest are at altitudes of 450-1050 meters above sea level. Benanti is the only winery that has vineyards located on every slope of the DOC Etna. Nerello Cappuccio is traditionally blended with Nerello Mascalese in Etna Rosso DOC blends, Cappuccio adding the colour. It is rare to see it vinified as a monovarietal. Vines are located on the Southwestern slope of Mount Etna at an elevation of 900 metres asl. The wine is deep coloured with aromas of spice, dried herbs, licorice and earth. A rare find!
