The sweet chocolatey American and French oak influence is what’s most prominent on this Riverina Shiraz. It’s peppery, too. Dark-berry fruit, medicinal herbs and sap comprise the rest of the aroma profile. In the mouth, the fruit is cool and crisp and the herb and spice flavors pop, but the acidity feels a bit forced amidst austere tannins and layers of oak. Christina Pickard
