Though sourced from MGP in Indiana, Smoke Wagons Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey is made from a much more Kentucky-like mash bill of 51% rye, 45% corn, and 4% malted barley which is bottled in bond at 100 proof. The nose gives off a sweet caramel scent, showing off the higher proportion of corn in the mash. Scents of vanilla and a light floral note join the caramel. Sipping reveals pine, mint, and peppercorn all enveloped within a soft caramel sweetness. The finish brings some cinnamon spice with a gentle sweetness like vanilla frosting and a touch of oak. Overall, a pleasant, easy-sipping rye whiskey.
