The Villa Matilde winery lies at the foot of the Roccamonfina volcano, a few kilometres from Naples, and is known for being one of the wineries to have revived the famous divine Falerno cult wine. This was a famous wine made in ancient Rome but the main varieties used to make it became extinct with the devastating phylloxera disease. Now, the Avallone family works sustainably to offer traditional wines with a marked typicity of the area.

Villa Matilde Aglianico Rocca dei Leoni comes from vines aged between 20 and 50 years old. These strains are planted in soil rich in sandstone clays, quartz sandstones and fossil deposits, and lie at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. All work is respectful to the environment and production is limited to 5,500 litres per hectare to make the grapes more concentrated and intense. The harvest is carried out manually and the clusters are selected one by one.
