The Heimbourg de Turckheim single vineyard is facing the Grand Cru Brand, on a steep southwest to west slope. The sun illuminates the west-facing plots late in the morning but on the other hand they receive more sunshine hours in the evening. The marl-calcareous-sandstone substrate of the Oligocene is here composed of limestone pebbles enclosed in a red calcareous sandstone, rich in iron. The soils are shallow, and the bedrock is almost outcropping, but fractured, which allows the roots to plunge. Although coming from a very calcareous terroir, the Heimbourg wines express a certain delicacy and aromatic openness, probably the result of late sunshine in the evening. It is a small great terroir of Turckheim! 2023 was incredibly low yields.
